Commit to Color 2010 – #02: Red

Tag: PhotographyChrissara @ 12:32 pm

Actually I simply had to take a photo of my room for the second week of the project which color is RED. My carpet, curtain and many other things are red. But this morning, when I was making breakfast, I discovered a much better idea: Strawberries. We had them for breakfast this morning and they had a really strong reddish color, so that they were perfect for this week’s color. But see for yourself – one overview and one close-up:

I didn’t change the contrast or color on these photos – they’re directly from the camera!

Spring Fever ’10

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 8:42 pm

After a long time of cold, icky weather, this weekend the sun started shining again. I hope that it will stay like this now, since I can then lay in the park with friends and enjoy the sun beams. And on top of that, sunny weather always gets me and many others in a good mood. Here a few outtakes from my spring walk today:

A blooming tree! Blossoms! Pink! Blue Sky!

Sun beams! The Sun! Yay!

Daisies! A whole field of ‘em! :)

Commit to Color 2010 – #1: Blue

Tag: PhotographyChrissara @ 8:53 pm

Since I couldn’t identify with the Project 52 anymore, because I didn’t like the figure that had to be on every picture in retrospect I decided to take part in a different photo project. I do want to pursue photography, get a routine in it and gain more experience, so I do like participating in projects like these.

The photo project is called Farbe bekennen (eng: COMMIT TO COLOR). In 30 weeks you are supposed to display 30 colors on photographs. (To read all the participation conditions, click on the logo on the left.)

I really like the idea, since I always have been fascinated and enthusiastic about colors, ever since I was little. Even my Crayons were sorted by color. And also today my clothes, especially my tops, can be found in my closet according to the color spectrum.

And since the project actually started on Monday already, here is my first photo. The first color in the project is BLUE. I did not have to think long about what I wanted to photograph. All I had to do was to open up my closet:

Rain alternatives

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 8:42 pm

After the really nice, springy and sunny days, this week turned out to be really gray and rainy. The bad weather made me stay at home and study for my mid-studies oral exam, which is good, but I was bummed anyways.

During study-breaks and also in additional free time, I discovered a new thing to do: Scrapbooking. One week ago I got my last two years of my life printed on 454 photos and now am designing photo albums. That looks something like this:

I really am enjoying it, since many memories and connecting thoughts are coming back, which make me smile and laugh. And who knows: Maybe the colorful paper will swash outside and the sun will appear again…

On the way to university today I saw this in a driveway near a construction area, which made me smile:

Off to ‘Ruhrpott’!

Tag: Photography,Student nature,TravelChrissara @ 9:32 pm

It is now exactly one week ago, when I tried to escape my duties at home for university and travelled into the so called ‘Ruhrpott’ to Dortmund (located close to Cologne). With this visit I continued visiting friends who turned their back on their hometown and moved some where else to study.

DO-Travel-Insight No.1: I desperately need a navigation system.

Student Discoveries, Episode 4

We have new cups at university, which I think are awesome!

The first line says:
I brought you this ____ (fill in the blank, for me preferably ‘Café Latte’), because…

(and then check one, several or all)
:

❒ I wanted to treat you to this!
❒ your mood is annoying!
❒ I have a guilty conscience!
❒ you only talk crap!
❒ I want to make it up to you!

Finally a very useful design for cups. Without many words and with a friendly gesture, you can say that what you have been wanting to for a long time.

Project 52 03/2010: Friendship

Tag: MBF,PhotographyChrissara @ 5:13 pm

The third week of the project has passed. The third topic was friendship.

For the past years, Duckie was residing in the bathroom, especially near the bathtub. Because that is where she always was able to spend time with her best friend: Water. And of course, a few bubbles are always mandatory. This time you will find her easily, since Duckie feels quite comfortable there and is more outgoing. But see for yourself:

P52 02/10: Numbers

Tag: PhotographyChrissara @ 11:16 am

Alrighty, the second topic for Project 52 was announced last Sunday, my contribution is following today, so that I am not behind in the first week already, since the third topic will be announced tomorrow!

As you can see from the title of this post, the second topic was numbers. In German, the word for numbers could also mean the verb paying, so it is kind of a double-interpretation. And that is how I got my idea for the second photo.

There are enough games, in which you can be rich for a short period of time and have lots of money involved. Even Duckie wanted to money-bathe and so I fulfilled her wish. But see for yourself – Can you find her?

P52 01/10: Hello World!

Tag: PhotographyChrissara @ 7:50 am

Okay, so I changed my mind and am taking part in this Project 52 – but just a little differently, as it is intended to be. Since I am still not fond of having a figure reoccur on the pictures as a center objekt, I will make some kind of “Hide-and-Seek” – Game out of this. It is called “Canard”, and at first I want to introduce you to my personal one.

This is “Duckie”, a little rubber duck. This bright yellow thing has been around for quite some time; it is even older than me! Up until now, it was in my bathroom, as how nearly every bathroom should have a rubber duck ;) There is just one little ‘problem’: Duckie is pretty shy, so she will not be able to be seen at a first glance on the pictures. As far as time and topic allow it, I will post pictures here to the weekly topics of the project, on which you have to search for Duckie. For suggestions, please simply use the comments for that specific post. The solution will be posted with either the next picture, or when someone found Duckie and posted a comment about it. Have fun!

(On the official site for Project 52 the picture has the number 157.)
