Exactly one month ago, I surprised my knight on his birthday with a day trip to Stuttgart. Since there is no better present than spending time together and discovering new places, right?

We left Frankfurt very early, so that we first had breakfast at this wonderful café directly at the market place. The sun was shining at 10 am already, which promised that it was going to be a beautiful day. We had coffee and a breakfast special for two people, which was simply amazing. Croissants, rolls, meats and cheeses, melon and yogurt with fresh fruit. Especially yummy were the homemade jams: peach and strawberry. Only because of them, the café is worth a visit. But Stuttgart has more to offer than extraordinary breakfast.

South Africa Impressions

Finally, the photos from my vacation in South Africa are sorted and (partly) edited. In the end, I still have close to 1000 photos in the folder. Oh well, that is what happens, if you are handling a Nikon D90 for the first time in length and detail. Yay! Here a small Best-Of South Africa Impressions for you taken during wonderful and interesting two weeks around Cape Town and Garden Route.

Halloween – Mania

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 11:00 pm

On Sunday, it was one very special day in the USA: Halloween. Up until this year, I had spent Halloween in Germany simply carving a pumpkin; the last two years I organized an all-American Halloween party. Ever since I can remember, I have always had fun at Halloween, much more than with the German carnival. This year it was my first Halloween in NYC and I wanted to go all the way with the festivities.

From many people I heard about a Halloween Parade in the Village. This year was their 38th year and is planned by a non-profit organisation and the Theatre of New York. Donations help to support and finance the parade. The parade is 25 blocks long and runs on Sixth Avenue between Broome St and 17th Street. Clubs, several organizations and artists, also partly art student from colleges, have own cars and present large balloons all Halloween themed. The special part of this parade is that everyone can join and walk in the parade. I simply needed to see that.

Fall at Oyster Bay, NY

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 2:13 am

Here a few impressions of my short day trip to Huntington, NY. On the way there, I discovered Oyster Bay, a wonderful spot, at which one could see the full beauty of fall. It has been quite a while that I have seen fall in such beautiful colors, such as here in the United States. Colors, a bit colder, but still warm enought and many loose leaves, which danced merrily once the wind came. Now that is fall to me. And I love it. But see for yourself:

Diary 2.0

Tag: Currently on top,PhotographyChrissara @ 6:26 pm

Actually I had said to myself that I would not fall into an emptiness of blogging throughout the summer days. But it happened anyway. Well, technically I did not, since the last ten days were far away from a definition of Summer. The weather was lousy, many raindrops pattered on my windows at night (and day) and I bought winter boots. Gray clouds instead of bright sunshine. But today, on the first day of September, I return together with freshness on my blog: a Diary 2.0.

Some of you may know it by the title “Visual Diary” and have one yourself. The concept is pretty easy: take one photo each day, preferably with a smartphone and then upload it right away. My device is the Nokia XpressMusic 5800 – and I will try to take all the photos with it. But since I – currently – cannot afford a mobile contract with an internet flatrate, I will upload the photos from my laptop. In a combination with a smartphone, this actually sounds almost old-school. In the best case, I still manage to upload the photo every day.

“And why?”, you may ask. Much too frequently we forget the great small things in life, which happen every day – a date with a friend, a discovery or simply a good dinner. With a photo a day, it is easier to reflect and remember those things, which were very special in one, short moment. And: having it captured on a photo, the moment will last forever.

My Diary 2.0 can be found on top in the menu. Have fun with it and discover the world with me!

Weekend getaway – Wetzlar, Hesse

Tag: Photography,TravelChrissara @ 7:05 pm

Last weekend a few friends and I packed our bags and headed towards Wetzlar, Hesse for a weekend getaway. Because a few things will be changing with our group, we wanted to go on a short vacation together. We all did not have time for a longer vacation, but our goal was to simply spend time together anyways.
