In my first week of my internship, I was able to also write my first band profile. In order to get into writing it, I listened to the whole album several times while researching the band. And of course this is how this week’s song of the week developed. The album I’m talking about is ‘Ocean Eyes’ by the Rock-Pop band ‘Owl City’. They have been only slowly started to become successful over here in Germany – from what I read they made it in the US last year already. Anyways, they are worth a listen. Especially because I think many of the songs on the album are a nice introduction to the beginning of spring…!
This week (15 – 21 Feb) I listened to “Fireflies” by Owl City four times (*click*).
This week I finally tested listening to music on my cellphone (Nokia 5800 Xpress Music) and I have to say that I am thrilled! The quality is pretty good and now my train, bus and other trips will be more enjoyable. Luckily the installation of the last.fm scrobbler was easy too, so that when I now connect my cellphone to my mac, it will transfer the data onto my online music library. That way I definitely know, how much I listen to what music. And this leads me to this week’s most listened song. This time it is by a woman – Michelle Branch. I like to listen to her music once in a while; this week it was probably because I just put the first songs I came across on my cellphone to test it. This song is one of her more slow ones, but I think the lyrics are very emotional.
This week (08 – 14 Feb.) I listened to ”Goodbye To You” by Michelle Branch six times (*click*).
It is exactly one month ago that I did my first typing speed test. Let’s see if I improved:
You type 385 characters per minute
You have 74 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words
74 words
That is one word and three characters per minute more than last month. Not a great improvement, but maybe next month…?
There is not really any reason why this song was my most listened track of the week. Last.fm simply put this into my personal music station in the most. Dashboard Confessional is one of my favorite bands and I think it is highly unfortunate that they are not popular in Germany.
This week (01 – 07 Feb) I listened to Dashboard Confessional’s ”The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most” four times (*click*).
After stubling over my SATC (Sex and the City) DVDs on a relaxing wednesday evening, I ended the evening at 2am in the morning after watching several episodes of the last season and watching the SATC movie for my I think now fifth time. In the following days I listened to the soundtrack up and down, down and up, which made one of the songs my most frequent heard song of the week.
Last week (Jan 19 – 31) I listened to Jennifer Hudson’s ”All Dressed In Love” four times (*click*).
Via last.fm you also can get recommondations of music, which you might enjoy. This happens either when you browse the artists you have already listened to, or when you listen to the radiostation “Your Library”. Last week while listening to that radiostation, is how I was introduced to an artist Five Times August. Immediately I liked one song, which then turned into my most frequent song of the week. It is a simple, good mood track.
This week (Jan 18 – 24) I listened to his track “Do It Again” six times (*click*).
As every other week, I listened to pretty much music this week. According to my last.fm stats, this week especially from one artist: John Mayer. I have been listening to his music for around a year now; I discovered one of his songs while watching a House M.D. episode on television and was immediately captured. For those who like nice, enjoyable singer/songwriter music with a touch of rock, I can only recommend him!
This week (Jan 11 – 17) I listened to two of songs each three times: “No Such Thing” (*click*) and “Dreaming With a Broken Heart” (*click*).
The first week of the new year is over and I decided to post the song, which I listened to most frequently every week. Maybe this way someone discovers a new song, or is reminded of a ‘good ol’ one. And I keep up to date on my music taste. I simply love last.fm!
This week (Jan 04 – 10): Patrice – “Dove of Peace” (*click*)
This probably is not a really good representation, but for a broad overlook it is alright. The most frequent used words of the English language were used.
You type 382 characters per minute
You have 73 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words
73 words
I will try to do this once a month, to see if there is any improvement.
(With German words I typed 79 words per minute.)
After the USA having so much of it these days, it finally made it here: Snow! After not having nice, fluffy, lasting snow in years, yesterday it snowed for a few hours and turned Frankfurt into a Winter Wonderland. I am excited and am crossing fingers that a) it will stay until Christmas or / and b) it will snow again. For me there is nothing more beautiful than waking up on Christmas Day and looking out the window to see the world covered in snow. My fingers are crossed!
