Last night, three friends and I drove to Hesse’s capital, Wiesbaden, to the Hessian State Theatre for a production of the casting show “Das Supertalent”, Germany’s version of “Got Talent”. One of us had won four tickets and so we jumped at our opportunity to be part in a television production. Stuff for free is great.
Since yesterday’s production will only be broadcasted in October, I am not allowed to say anything about it yet. But: my report on last night is already written and saved as a draft here on WordPress. It will be published directly after the broadcast. Cross my heart! But I can say this much: it was definitely an interesting experience and a fun evening. So stay tuned…
This movie critique will not have the same structure as my previous ones. Because this movie is simply different.
Last night at 7:30 pm I sat down in the movies, hoping that the movie was really as good as so many critics had said previously. The ice-cream seller did not show up, so I had to skip my Ben & Jerry’s this time. Last night at about 10:15 om I sat in the movies, watched the end credits, while the lights began to go on again. I sat and thought. Ruminated. And at the same time I was completely mind blown and amazed. Needed ice-cream to sooth my soul for relaxation.

Surprise, surprise – I am also one of those million billion women on this world, who declare themselves as a SATC (for those, who are not: SATC = Sex and the City) – Fan. Personally, I only discovered the series in season three, but of course I caught up on the missing episodes more than once. The end of the series was tearful, but in a good way – a movie followed. Now, two years since the first movie came to the big screen, the second is here!
Luckily, my best friend and I, together with a few other friends, were able to get tickets for the Pre-Premiere last week. Which also included: Welcome champagne, yummy cupcakes, sweepstakes and 40 minute men’s fashion show! The atmosphere with approximately 500 women (and even a few men!) was amazing. Just the pre-show before the actual movie was worth the money…!

Never in my life did I think I would list him (or anyone else from the show) in my weekly post for my song of the week. But after hearing him live in an unplugged session, my mind definitely changed. He has an incredible nice, mellow but also strong voice, which really grabs you. And he made my train trips to university this week far more pleasant. Please, don’t get yourself freaked out by his, let’s say, individual style ;)
This week (04/12 – 18) I listened to Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me” about five times (*click*).
This week I re-discovered Robbie Williams for myself. I have all his albums in my CD rack (except his recent one), but for some reason I don’t listen to him that often. He doesn’t have the best voice in the world, but he does have something unique in it. And his “I don’t give a “*%#!” – attitude makes him very likable. Simply also because he is that way, although being one of the best-selling artists ever!
This week (03.01 – 07) I listened to Robbie Williams’ “Let Me Entertain You” three times (*click*).
I also stayed up all night and watched the Academy Award Ceremony yesterday. After sleeping ahead a bit I didn’t fall asleep once during the ceremony, so this year I caught everything.
All together I really was surprised, as probably many others to, how well “The Hurt Locker” did. During the course of the ceremony I assumed that it’ll also make “Best Motion Picture” though. Too bad for “Inglorious Bastards”! I really would’ve enjoy seeing that movie win “Best Motion Picture”, but maybe it’s going to take a few more years, until a movie like that wins.

If you leave out the music I listen to while I work at the radio station, I don’t really have much time to listen to any other new music. This time I also don’t know the exact number of times I listened to this song, since I can’t scrobble the radio station, but I felt like they played the song around 10 times within 5 days. And that doesn’t make the song any better…
This week (02.22 – 28) I listened to Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” around 8-10 times (*click*).
In my first week of my internship, I was able to also write my first band profile. In order to get into writing it, I listened to the whole album several times while researching the band. And of course this is how this week’s song of the week developed. The album I’m talking about is ‘Ocean Eyes’ by the Rock-Pop band ‘Owl City’. They have been only slowly started to become successful over here in Germany – from what I read they made it in the US last year already. Anyways, they are worth a listen. Especially because I think many of the songs on the album are a nice introduction to the beginning of spring…!
This week (15 – 21 Feb) I listened to “Fireflies” by Owl City four times (*click*).
This week I finally tested listening to music on my cellphone (Nokia 5800 Xpress Music) and I have to say that I am thrilled! The quality is pretty good and now my train, bus and other trips will be more enjoyable. Luckily the installation of the last.fm scrobbler was easy too, so that when I now connect my cellphone to my mac, it will transfer the data onto my online music library. That way I definitely know, how much I listen to what music. And this leads me to this week’s most listened song. This time it is by a woman – Michelle Branch. I like to listen to her music once in a while; this week it was probably because I just put the first songs I came across on my cellphone to test it. This song is one of her more slow ones, but I think the lyrics are very emotional.
This week (08 – 14 Feb.) I listened to ”Goodbye To You” by Michelle Branch six times (*click*).
There is not really any reason why this song was my most listened track of the week. Last.fm simply put this into my personal music station in the most. Dashboard Confessional is one of my favorite bands and I think it is highly unfortunate that they are not popular in Germany.
This week (01 – 07 Feb) I listened to Dashboard Confessional’s ”The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most” four times (*click*).
