After weeks of studying, much sweat and being nervous, I did it: I passed my mid-studies oral exam with a B+ on Friday, 28 May 2010. The questions went into a different direction I thought they would, but I was successful. I am relieved that it went so well and was so happy, since some of my closest friends were waiting for me in the hall at University. We went out for a nice lunch afterwards and followed it up with a chill & drink evening at my place. And yesterday I caught up on the missed sleep from the last weeks.
With this exam, half of my studies are officially over now. If everything goes well, I will be finished with university in two years after 8 semesters – which is the regular study time. A weird feeling that I still have to get used to…
After a long time of cold, icky weather, this weekend the sun started shining again. I hope that it will stay like this now, since I can then lay in the park with friends and enjoy the sun beams. And on top of that, sunny weather always gets me and many others in a good mood. Here a few outtakes from my spring walk today:

A blooming tree! Blossoms! Pink! Blue Sky!

Sun beams! The Sun! Yay!

Daisies! A whole field of ‘em! :)
Still half asleep I turned on my Mac this morning, with a cup of Cappuccino next to me, to check my emails and read this and that on the internet. When I opened Google, my heart started beating faster, as soon I saw today’s Google logo:

The reason for this Google’s design, which supposedly will be online for the whole weekend, is Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary.
And my heart beat even faster, when I realized that you are actually able to play the game there! Because Pac-Man is one of my fondest child memories.

After the really nice, springy and sunny days, this week turned out to be really gray and rainy. The bad weather made me stay at home and study for my mid-studies oral exam, which is good, but I was bummed anyways.
During study-breaks and also in additional free time, I discovered a new thing to do: Scrapbooking. One week ago I got my last two years of my life printed on 454 photos and now am designing photo albums. That looks something like this:

I really am enjoying it, since many memories and connecting thoughts are coming back, which make me smile and laugh. And who knows: Maybe the colorful paper will swash outside and the sun will appear again…
On the way to university today I saw this in a driveway near a construction area, which made me smile:

We have new cups at university, which I think are awesome!

The first line says:
I brought you this ____ (fill in the blank, for me preferably ‘Café Latte’), because…
(and then check one, several or all):
❒ I wanted to treat you to this!
❒ your mood is annoying!
❒ I have a guilty conscience!
❒ you only talk crap!
❒ I want to make it up to you!
Finally a very useful design for cups. Without many words and with a friendly gesture, you can say that what you have been wanting to for a long time.
Alright, so on Tuesday the Oscar Nominees were presented. While sitting at work, I was following online, who was nominated in which category and which movies are represented most. The amount of movies in the category ”Best Picture” was increased to 10 movies this year, in order to offer higher possibilities for ‘other’ movies like animation films. I think it is a great idea, but a the same time it gives me more movies to choose from, which might make my decision more difficult. Here is a list of my favorites of the some categories I chose.

New month, new movies. And again I know I will be running into problems, since there are many great movies coming out. Here is my Febuary filmlist – hopefully I will be able to see all of them. Maybe that is a good idea for an evening out during my semester break? (Again, these are the opening dates for German movie theatres. For your country, please check your countries listings, I recommend www.imdb.com)

This week the first A-Journal of the year 2010 was published. The 36th issue is all about the Third Space. “Third Space” is a term from the Culture Studies and describes the situation of a person, who was raised with two different cultures and thus is neither one of them completely. Someone, who lives in between two worlds.
Since I myself am one of those people (German-American heritage), I wrote an exclusive report on my experiences. If you want to know what goes on in my head and heart, continue reading.
The year 2009 is coming to its end. Tonight I will be sitting together with my closest friends, having a buffet, drinking beer and simply sitting together, celebrating into the new year. Towards the end of the year, you can find many flashback shows, articles and stories all over the place. In this blog, you’ll also be getting one. But not the ones you have seen so far. This is my personal flashback of the year, what delighted me, what got me upset, and mostly the answer to the question: “Chrissara, how was your year 2009?”
