Movie Time: Inception

Tag: Delights,MBFChrissara @ 12:21 pm

This movie critique will not have the same structure as my previous ones. Because this movie is simply different.

Last night at 7:30 pm I sat down in the movies, hoping that the movie was really as good as so many critics had said previously. The ice-cream seller did not show up, so I had to skip my Ben & Jerry’s this time. Last night at about 10:15 om I sat in the movies, watched the end credits, while the lights began to go on again. I sat and thought. Ruminated. And at the same time I was completely mind blown and amazed. Needed ice-cream to sooth my soul for relaxation.

The world’s largest convertible

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 8:53 am

After having a season ticket for three years and having seen many other games before and after this period, finally the tour of the soccer stadium in Frankfurt followed. I had given it to my father as a Christmas present and it was about time we went there and did the tour.

The meeting point was at the east side. There a group of about 20 people gathered. Some were dressed in an Eintracht Frankfurt jersey, others really were asking for it: one arrived in a Dortmund jersey, a young boy even in a Bayern Munich jersey. And if that was not bad enough, it was one with RibĂ©ry’s name on the back. Comment of the tour guide: “My boy”, and points and his jersey “you are at the totally wrong place here with that thing on.” Lovely start!

(Another) World Cup Upshot

Tag: Absurdities,Currently on top,DelightsChrissara @ 8:32 am

It is over. The end. Germany ranks third, after losing against the later world champion Spain in the semi-finals. The world cup 2010 ended with a rather moderate and brutal final, in which an English referee summed up the referees performances throughout the whole competition. Thomas Mueller was named Best Young Player, which he highly deserved; and at this point I feel kind of old, because he is younger than me. What is next? What will we, or rather me personally, remember from the world cup in South Africa? There were delights, but also absurdities.

Movie Cocktails

Tag: A-Journal,DelightsChrissara @ 10:03 am

This week the July issue of the A-Journal, the student magazine I write for, was published. This issue is all about Summer in the City – where are the best chillout zones in Frankfurt, which books simply have to be on your summer reading list and much more.

My article this issue is all about the most refreshing summer drink: cocktails. But not just any cocktails. Cocktails, which have recieved their fame through movies.

The worldcup road 2010

Tag: Currently on top,Delights,Internet discoveriesChrissara @ 12:04 pm

Germany made it into the semi-finals! Amazing! Which means that we will definitely see two more games. And so far, Germany has done well in the round of the last 16. Here a short overview…

Round of 16 – England vs Germany 1-4: The ball was not in the goal.

(via twitter.com)

___________

Quarter final – Argentina vs Germany 0:4: Taken apart in bits and pieces.

(via twitter.com)
___________

And a preview for tonight:

Semi final – Germany vs Spain (my prediction: 3:2): The Spanish will be squeezed out and squished!

(via)

By the way: Paul was also wrong for his prediction at the Euro Cup ’08 final (Germany vs Spain). My theory: He is simply nervous, when it comes to this specific match, because Spanish love Calamari. That confuses him and makes him predict wrong ;) Enjoy tonight’s match and: Go Germany!

Yummy cold coffee

Tag: Delights,PhotographyChrissara @ 7:47 pm

For some people it may be really an old hat, but for me it was THE discovery of last week. One of my favorite coffee places has (finally!) brought cold coffee into supermarkets! Of course, I could not decide which to take, so after a quick look into my wallet, I simply took one of each flavor.

Notes: 3

The order of the photos (L-R) is also the order in which I tasted them. After I drank the last one today, here the positions on the podium of all-favorite cold coffee.

Victorious Cooking

Actually, I am not superstitous. Actually. But it does not hurt anyone, if you continue to do things that worked once before, right?

I am talking about the idea that my family had some time prior to an Eintracht Frankfurt game. We ate Frankfurters and sauerkraut and Frankfurt won surprisingly against Bayern Munich. Since then we decided to always eat something of the particular region or nation.

During the WC 2010 it is not any different. And: It has been working perfectly! Here a small overview, where I also was able to test my newest plug-in (ImgNote):

Kick-Off World Cup 2010

Tag: Currently on top,Delights,PoliticsChrissara @ 11:30 am

In only a few hours, the time has finally come: World Cup, World Cup, World Cup! Personally, I have been excited ever since I passed my mid-studies oral exam. Me as a soccer freak, there is nothing better and more exciting than the World Cup. (Aside from the fact of my favorite German Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt becoming German Champions, but I think that will take a while.) The first World Cup party for the game Germany vs Australia on Sunday is planned and organized, the vuvuzelas and flags are ready to be used.

Yes, plural: flags. Because I am not only rooting for Germany, but also for USA, Portugal and South Africa. For USA, because I am an American. For Portugal, because I have been there several times and one of my good friends lives there. For South Africa, because I actually always (except if it is Brazil or Italy) sympathize with the hosting country. But this time, it is a little more than usual.

Half-time!

Tag: Delights,Student natureChrissara @ 12:32 pm

After weeks of studying, much sweat and being nervous, I did it: I passed my mid-studies oral exam with a B+ on Friday, 28 May 2010. The questions went into a different direction I thought they would, but I was successful. I am relieved that it went so well and was so happy, since some of my closest friends were waiting for me in the hall at University. We went out for a nice lunch afterwards and followed it up with a chill & drink evening at my place. And yesterday I caught up on the missed sleep from the last weeks.

With this exam, half of my studies are officially over now. If everything goes well, I will be finished with university in two years after 8 semesters – which is the regular study time. A weird feeling that I still have to get used to…
