Song of the week 08/2010

If you leave out the music I listen to while I work at the radio station, I don’t really have much time to listen to any other new music. This time I also don’t know the exact number of times I listened to this song, since I can’t scrobble the radio station, but I felt like they played the song around 10 times within 5 days. And that doesn’t make the song any better…

This week (02.22 – 28) I listened to Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” around 8-10 times (*click*).

Radio-Internship: Week 2

Tag: FuturesoundsChrissara @ 5:51 pm

And the second week is over already. I seriously don’t know where it went. The second week started how the first week ended: I wrote about the V.I.P s and starlets.

On Tuesday was my big day: I wrote about Giant George, the largest dog in the world. And landed on the homepage! All the way at the bottom, but hey, I thought that was pretty cool! Continue reading “Radio-Internship: Week 2″

Orientation – Radio-Internship: Week 1 1/2

Tag: FuturesoundsChrissara @ 4:52 pm

Actually I assumed that I had a good orientation sense. But yesterday it was different. After my tour through the place in my first week, I could find all the important things blindfolded. I had no problem what so ever to find the coffee maker, bathroom and my work place. But the hard part came, when I had to settle some paperwork and I had to go to the second floor. Song of the week 07/2010

In my first week of my internship, I was able to also write my first band profile. In order to get into writing it, I listened to the whole album several times while researching the band. And of course this is how this week’s song of the week developed. The album I’m talking about is ‘Ocean Eyes’ by the Rock-Pop band ‘Owl City’. They have been only slowly started to become successful over here in Germany – from what I read they made it in the US last year already. Anyways, they are worth a listen. Especially because I think many of the songs on the album are a nice introduction to the beginning of spring…!

This week (15 – 21 Feb) I listened to “Fireflies” by Owl City four times (*click*).

Radio – Internship: Week 1

Tag: FuturesoundsChrissara @ 12:37 pm

Yes, I still exist. I’m very sorry for not posting this whole week, but therefore here you’ll get a full update on my internship that started on Monday…

Let’s go back into the old year 2009 for a minute: Last summer, shortly before my vacation in the US, I stumbled over an ad on the website of a local radio station. They were looking for an intern for their online-editor team. Interesting, I thought immediately. But the time frame they were looking for did not fit into my semester breaks. I wrote an e-mail anyways, was able to submit my resume, got an interview two days later and was offered the spot!

Song of the week 06/2010

This week I finally tested listening to music on my cellphone (Nokia 5800 Xpress Music) and I have to say that I am thrilled! The quality is pretty good and now my train, bus and other trips will be more enjoyable. Luckily the installation of the last.fm scrobbler was easy too, so that when I now connect my cellphone to my mac, it will transfer the data onto my online music library. That way I definitely know, how much I listen to what music. And this leads me to this week’s most listened song. This time it is by a woman – Michelle Branch. I like to listen to her music once in a while; this week it was probably because I just put the first songs I came across on my cellphone to test it. This song is one of her more slow ones, but I think the lyrics are very emotional.

This week (08 – 14 Feb.) I listened to ”Goodbye To You” by Michelle Branch six times (*click*).

End of lecture period

Finally – the lecture period of winter term 09/10 is over! Officially, the semester lasts until March 31st, but since Friday no more lectures take place. But this doesn’t mean that I have off completely: I still have to write a long essay for my last American Studies course by March 1st and an essay for my Sociology course by the end of March. Throughout my time off, I will also work occasionally and do an internship (more to that at the beginning of next week). So not really much changes, right? Well, at least I don’t have to get up at go to university – one small but nice advantage. Meaning that my private life is slowly getting me back ;)

Off to ‘Ruhrpott’!

Tag: Photography,Student nature,TravelChrissara @ 9:32 pm

It is now exactly one week ago, when I tried to escape my duties at home for university and travelled into the so called ‘Ruhrpott’ to Dortmund (located close to Cologne). With this visit I continued visiting friends who turned their back on their hometown and moved some where else to study.

DO-Travel-Insight No.1: I desperately need a navigation system.

Student Discoveries, Episode 4

We have new cups at university, which I think are awesome!

The first line says:
I brought you this ____ (fill in the blank, for me preferably ‘Café Latte’), because…

(and then check one, several or all)
:

❒ I wanted to treat you to this!
❒ your mood is annoying!
❒ I have a guilty conscience!
❒ you only talk crap!
❒ I want to make it up to you!

Finally a very useful design for cups. Without many words and with a friendly gesture, you can say that what you have been wanting to for a long time.

Typing Speed Test 02/2010

Tag: (Non)senseChrissara @ 7:54 pm

It is exactly one month ago that I did my first typing speed test. Let’s see if I improved:

You type 385 characters per minute
You have 74 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words

74 words

That is one word and three characters per minute more than last month. Not a great improvement, but maybe next month…?
